Awai-Za Recital Series Vol.3 - Celebrating Yu Kuwabara's first portrait album release
Yu Kuwabara Solo Exhibition:Sounded Voice, Voiced Sound
Kuwabara has been creating the time and space in which music and songs are born, while deepening its contemplation on the relationship between sound, song, and writing in composition, such as music and words, sound and voice, notation and performance. For the composer, a score is a letter to the performer to make the music sound realized in the imagination.
This exhibition, commemorating the release of Kuwabara’s first CD of works on the contemporary music label Kairos (Vienna), introduces Kuwabara’s distinctive notation and images of notation from the perspective of visual art, and the relationship between sound and voice as drawings or drawings of the invisible. Along with an exhibition of music scores, featuring works for the Buddhist vocal works of shomyo, and a live performance by members of the long-standing creation group Awai-Za, the exhibition offers an opportunity to share the process by which sound and music emerge in the act of notation and performance.
How are the sounds and voices that become music and songs inscribed and realized when a musical score, drawn as a kind of letter, emerges as a musical score? Please join us for a great musical event that occurs at the intersection of the visible and the invisible, the audible and the inaudible.
